About VTV

Ventnor TV (VTV as we like to call ourselves) is the Isle of Wight's 'feel-good' community channel.  We started out in Ventnor but have since grown to cover the whole of the Island.

VTV was conceived in 2008 by a group of retired media professionals in Ventnor who were saddened by the focus on bad news stories by the media and wanted to provide a 'good news' alternative. Since then our vision has grown to include members and stories from across the Island. New stories about the Island community emerge regularly from a devoted team of video reporters who are an ecclectic mix of Island residents, including college students, media professionals, stay-at-home parents, and retirees.

VTV is a not-for-profit community organisation and we rely on support received from a variety of community funds. To date, VTV have received monetary support from the Town Council, Ventnor Enhancement Fund, Rotary Club and Community Cafe and we also been given a grant from the Hampshire & IW Community Fund.

Our website is packed full of interesting good news stories from the Isle of Wight as well as news of forthcoming local events.  The films are organised into categories so you can browse by topic, or you can use the search facility if there's a particular subject you're interested in.

Everyone is welcome to join the team in whatever capacity interests them - filming, directing, presenting or editing!  So why not get in contact and be a part of something special by contributing articles or photos to the website, or by becoming a member and helping to run the project.

Regards,

The VTV team

Louis Lawrence - Chairman

"I'm a retired marketing executive and an active community worker; I was a youth worker in London for many years, one of the founding group of the IW Credit Union, initiator of the IW Jewish Society, editor of the IWU3A newsletter, a barbershop singer. I settled in Ventnor when I retired from full time work, and named VentnorTV after the town's vibrant community culture."
